A detox diet plan is one that can lasts up to three weeks with the main focus being to help the body to get rid of toxins.  Detoxification is a natural normal response the body has going on at all times.  Having too much toxins or too much stress can stop this process and allow for toxins to build up in the body.  A detox diet will help the body to refocus and get back on the path to natural detoxification.  The benefits of a diet that will detox the body is to help get rid of allergies, gain a stronger immune system, gets rid of headaches, bloating, improves the energy and encourages a healthy digestive system.  Detoxing can also help to halt premature aging.

Different Types of Detox Diet Plans

There are all different types of detox plans out there.  These are some that are well known.  Ayurvedic detox is a rejuvenation plan that helps to cleanse the body and works with “Pancha karma”.  Acai cleanse is a newer one that uses acai berries to rid the body of toxins.  Juice fasting will have you consuming the juice from fresh fruits and vegetables which helps to bring on a good colon cleanse.  There is one that involves drinking lemonade, cayenne pepper and maple syrup.  There are cleanses for liver, kidney, colon and intestines.

Start with the Bowels

One of the best places to start with the detox diet plan is to start by having your bowels cleaned out.  This is the area where waste products are eliminated.  Sometimes though, this area can lose the ability to completely eliminate, and thus the wastes will stick to the intestinal walls, including the toxins contained within the wastes.  By helping the body to clear this out helps to detox in a big way.  Once cleared out you should continue to do things with your diet to ensure the bowels will continually and completely clear out by eating plenty of fiber and drinking plenty of water each day.

How To Start On A Detox Diet Plan

Detox diets can last up to three weeks, but many may be as short as a week, or even just for several days. So you need to keep the time line in mind, to prepare. Some detox diets can be very restrictive like the juice diets, where you have to just drink juice and nothing else for days.  Some will have you needing to be close to a toilet, so the restriction is in having to stick close to home.  With these diets it is impossible to continue with everyday duties unless you are a home body anyway.    Some detox diets that require fasting, are fairly easy, but may be even easier if you are able to go off for a mini-vacation to get through the symptoms of fasting, such as headaches, nausea, and weakness.

A detox diet is actually good for all.  There are so many different types that you could find one that would fit your lifestyle and one that you could manage with ease.  There are toxins in our environment and foods that we need to work to help our body to eliminate.  Doing a detox helps us to be healthier and have a healthier immune system.
